For our Harry Potter Soundtrack Contest, we asked you guys to tell us a song, which you thought should be played in the background, when the BIG KISS happens in Deathly Hallows Part 2 and why it would be the perfect song for Ron and Hermione.

You’ll find the great answers of our five winners Renan, Holly, Brooke, Zoe and Ariana below and we put a link to every song for those of you who are curious to hear the songs.
Enjoy!

Renan:

I think that the perfect song for the BIG KISS is GOOD TO YOU by Mariana’s Trench. The music is about Ron and Hermione, because it talks about the signals, desires that Ron and Hermione hide. Like the music said:
“I thought I saw a sign Somewhere between the lines Maybe it’s me, maybe I only see what I want[…] And I do want to know I’ll hold you up above everyone and I do want you to know I think you’ be good to me And I’d so good to you”

Holly:

I think the song for Ron and Hermione’s first kiss should be lucky –by jason mraz because as you listen to the lyrics it describes both of them towards each other, how lucky they are to have fallen in love with their best friend, someone who understands them and who’s always supported each other throughout the years. I think it would have an effect on the audience too, because everyone who has followed Harry Potter from the start will understand how much Ron and Hermione’s love was tested and created stronger, but they both denied the fact they loved each other, but as the years went on it became more obvious until they finally realized and shared that magical first kiss, But if we had to chose a part of the sound track from deathly hallows it would possibly be the theme which was played when Dobby passed away as that really showed the comfort they both offered each other, how Hermione fell into Ron’s arms and felt safe, which was leading up to the very first kiss which we have all be gasping to see!

Brooke:

Ideally, I’m sure that the music that Desplat scores for the big kiss in the film will perfectly fit the scene, but I have an idea of what song I’d otherwise like to hear during it. Much like Sally in the classic tv show, “Coupling”, I think that we all long to hear a sweeping aria as we kiss that perfect someone. Her choice was one from Madame Butterfly. But, as for me, I think that Puccini’s “Chi il bel sogno di Doretta” from the opera “La Rodine” would best enhance Ron and Hermione’s first kiss. It’s been beautifully sung by many before, but I’d love to hear Sarah Brightman’s version playing in the background of what I’m sure is going to be the greatest movie moment ever for me. It worked in “A Room with a View” for Julian Sands and Helena Bonham-Carter, so why not for my favorite Potter pair? I haven’t met my own Ron Weasley yet, but I would hope that this song would be going through my head when I do meet and kiss him. If you have any doubts about the power of this aria, then please listen to it for yourself. It really should be the backdrop for any epic, cinematic kiss such as Ron and Hermione’s.

Zoe:

Iwan Rheon – Simple Song would be perfect for the backing music, simply because I personally imagined the scene with a simple guitar based melody, nothing too loud that will distract the perfect moment! The words fit perfectly with their relationship (which I personally adore!) “Let us laugh and cry it’s all the same, Simple song, prove me wrong” Bless!

Ariana:

Though this song may be too “pop” to play during the epic R/Hr kiss scene, since this is a very intense movie, I feel like it would be the perfect song for that occasion. One of the lyrics I love is “we’re falling apart but falling together” I just feel if we put that lyric in the spectrum of Ron and Hermione in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows it’s perfect because their whole world is truly “falling apart” but they’re finally “falling together”. The Ron and Hermione kiss is one of the most wonderful moments of Deathly Hallows especially for R/Hr shippers. It’s a moment that’s truly just Ron and Hermione. “Where nothing else matters in that moment except them two.” I feel the lyrics of this song capture this well. They’re in their perfect moment and they don’t want to leave; they want it to last an eternity because they don’t know if they’ll get another moment like this. They’re finally “melting into each other”. If you listen to this song and picture Ron and Hermione and the kiss I believe you won’t be able to help but smile, it’s their song for their moment 🙂

Congrats to our winners again 🙂
